How to Make Pipe Cleaner Rose Rings

These pipe cleaner rose rings are so pretty, and they’re super simple to make! They’re a variation on the pipe cleaner flower rings we posted last week. But by using more pipe cleaners they look just like beautiful, blossoming roses!

This is the last (but not least) post in our pipe cleaner rings series. We’ve also posted tutorials and videos for Pipe Cleaner Flower RingsPipe Cleaner Butterfly Rings, and Pipe Cleaner Daisy Rings. I couldn’t decide which ones I liked the best, so there’s tutorials and videos for all of them!

And just like the other pipe cleaner rings, these pipe cleaner rose rings are really low mess. Actually, these are ZERO MESS. Zero! You don’t even need a pair of scissors. Just 7 pipe cleaners and no scraps. Easy peasy!

These pipe cleaner rose rings are so pretty and they're so easy to make! All you need are a few pipe cleaners and in less than 10 minutes you can make a beautiful homemade ring! This is such a great craft for kids, teens, tweens and even adults. It's a fun dollar store craft with zero mess. Wouldn't they be great for Valentine's Day!?

Wow, that was a lot of pipe cleaner rings! We made at least 2 dozen of these rings to try out the different methods. And now my stash of pipe cleaners has been officially depleted. But if you can think of anything good I can make with brown, black, orange or white pipe cleaners, let me know because I still have lots of those. Good thing Halloween is only a few months away! 😉

So, I was really on a roll shooting the videos for all these rings. This rose ring was the last one I recorded. But when I was done the video, I realized I forgot to focus the darn camera before I pressed record. MAN! I recorded the whole overhead part of the video out of focus!

I wanted to reshoot the video, but I used up all my red pipe cleaners! So I apologize in advance if parts of the video tutorial are a little… well… out of focus. By some stroke of luck, the settings almost worked for my video. (almost…) This video is a little more fuzzy than I wanted it to be, but hopefully you get the idea… I bet I’ll never make that mistake again. Or maybe I will. Mommy brain and all. #thestruggleisreal haha

Here’s an affiliate link to some pipe cleaners on Amazon that get good reviews:

Any standard pipe cleaners will work for these rose rings. I get my pipe cleaners either from the dollar store or from Michaels, but the ones on Amazon in the link above also look like a great deal.

Gather all 6 of the red pipe cleaners and line up the ends as best you can.

Then twist them together in the middle 4 or 5 times. This is the part of the ring that will go around your finger.

Place the middle of the twisted pipe cleaners under and around the finger where the ring will go, making sure the ends are even on both sides of your finger. Cross the ends of the pipe cleaners over your finger to get the ring size.

Carefully pull the “ring” off your finger. Then, pinching where the pipe cleaners cross, twist the pipe cleaners twice. Try the ring on to make sure it fits and adjust the size if needed before you continue.

Separate all of the pipe cleaners evenly around the circle.

Pinch the end of one of the pipe cleaners, then roll it into a spiral until you reach the middle.

Continue rolling each of the pipe cleaner ends into a spiral towards the middle. Each spiral is a rose petal.

Adjust the shape and position of each of the petals if needed to make it more rose shaped. When you’re done, you should have a pretty rose shape like in the photo below.

Take the green pipe cleaner and wrap it around the back of the ring. Twist it a couple times, tightly against the bottom of the rose, to hold it in place.

Pinch the end of one of the green pipe cleaner ends, then roll it into a spiral towards the middle. Repeat for the other end of the green pipe cleaner.

You should end up with two green spirals on the bottom of the ring like in the photo below:

You can make your rose ring any colour you like. They’d look so pretty in all the standard rose colours!

You can try mixing it up by using different colours in the rose too – different pipe cleaner colours from the same colour family would look beautiful – like red, dark red, light red, burgundy and pink, etc.
