How to Make Pipe Cleaner Flower Rings

These pipe cleaner flower rings are so pretty and so fun. And most importantly they’re really easy to make! All you need are pipe cleaners. That’s it! No scissors. No glue. Just pipe cleaners!

I’ve made at least 20 of these pipe cleaner rings in the last few days. I might have gotten a little carried away – to the point that now I’m running out of good pipe cleaner colours. Which says a lot, because I’m a serious craft supply hoarder!

But these rings are so easy to make, and there’s so many variations, that I couldn’t help myself. So we’re going to get a little crazy here, and make this Part 1 of a Pipe Cleaner Ring series so we can keep all the variations organized. My girls LOVE these pipe cleaner flower rings! I had them sitting on the table when they came home from school yesterday and they were so excited to wear them to their school’s end of year barbecue last night.

Homemade jewelry is the best, and the kids are so proud of the things we make together. This is such a fun and simple craft for kids!

How to Make Pipe Cleaner Flower Rings

Here’s a list of what you’ll need. The affiliate link below will take you to products on Amazon that are similar to the supplies we used to make this craft:

• 4 pipe cleaners – 12 inch length (1 green and 3 of another colour)

OK, it isn’t much of a list when you only need one material, but that’s how easy these are to make! Grab some pipe cleaners at the dollar store, and you’re all set!

You can also feel free to make your flower different colours. I like the way the solid coloured flowers look, but you could mix up the colours, or even use different shades of the same colour.

Line up the three pipe cleaners that are the same colour. Then twist them a few times in the middle – Maybe 4 or 5 times.

This is the part that will go around your finger, and the rings are easier to get on and off when the pipe cleaners are twisted just a little bit. It doesn’t have to be perfect.

Wrap the middle of the pipe cleaners around one of your fingers, making sure the ends are even.

Then twist it two or three times to make the ring loop. You might need to make the loop slightly larger than your finger because when you twist it, it tends to shrink the ring loop.

Make sure the loop fits your finger before you move on to the next step. If it doesn’t fit, untwist it and try again until you’ve made your ring a good size. Sometimes it helps if you take it off your finger when you twist it.

Remove the loop from your finger (if you haven’t already), then separate each of the pipe cleaners evenly as shown in the photo below.

Pinch the end of one of the pipe cleaners, then roll it tightly into a spiral towards the center.

Continue this process for each pipe cleaner – first pinch the end of the pipe cleaner, then roll it tightly into a spiral towards the center.

When you’ve finished rolling all of the pipe cleaners into spirals, bend and arrange the little spiral “petals” into the shape of a flower.

Flip the ring over and wrap the green pipe cleaner around the base of the flower, twisting the two ends together to keep it in place.

Then roll each of the green pipe cleaners into a spiral to make the flower’s leaves.

Rather than leaving the green spirals as circles, pinch the tip of each spiral to make them leaf shaped.

That’s it! You’re done!

You should have a flower with 6 petals and 2 pointy leaves. Isn’t that easy!?
