Progress: The kids’ bedrooms are painted!

It feels so exciting to have some real progress to share!  Or at least it feels like real progress – the painter was here today and yesterday and the kids’ bedrooms are painted!  I think painting their bedrooms has made a huge difference, even without furniture in there yet.  And hiring a painter definitely made things simpler!

Even still, it was hard work with coordinating sleeping arrangements, getting Leah’s and Kate’s bedrooms cleared out and keeping little hands away from wet paint.  Throughout the day there was a lot of “No, you can’t go visit the painter again,” and “This colour will grow on you, we are not painting your bedroom pink” and “DON’T TOUCH THAT PAINT IT’S WET!”

Leah’s room was painted yesterday so she’s back in her bedroom tonight and Kate is sleeping in her playpen on the floor of our bedroom.  Kate was NOT impressed that she has to sleep somewhere else, but paint fumes are probably not a good idea for a 9 month old.  We’ll see how the night goes.

As for the colours we chose, I’m very happy with how everything looks!  Leah’s room looks bright, and fresh, and clean and I think it’s going to look amazing!  Her colour was pretty much exactly how it looked in the bird’s egg examples I posted the other day.

Here are some photo’s of Leah’s bedroom after her room was painted:

Kate’s room looks just a little bit darker than the gray owl examples I posted the other day.   Maybe we have less natural light in her room?  But definitely the fresh coat of paint makes a huge difference and I think once I get the room put together it will look great!

Here are some photos of Kate’s room after the painter left today (yes, her crib is still in the middle of the room):

All of the trim in our house is really cream, so we decided to repaint the trim in both of their bedrooms to Benjamin Moore’s Cloud White.  I’m a little bit worried we went too white, but if nothing else it sure looks freshened up!  We just might need to switch out the electrical outlets to white now…

I know they are just pictures of empty rooms, but it always amazes me what a big difference a fresh coat of paint can make!
