Hello! It’s Megan from Homemade Ginger and I’m back with another craft that I think both kids and adults will love to do!
Whether it’s VBS, kids birthday parties or class parties at school, it seems like I’m always trying to come up with art projects that a variety of ages of both boys and girls will enjoy. I also try to come up with projects that won’t immediately go in the trash when they come home. I know I’m guilty of secretly stashing my kids’ papers and artwork in the trash when they aren’t looking! Am I the only one? However, I love when they bring home pieces that can proudly be displayed in their room or on a shelf without it feeling like clutter!
These rainbow salt paintings are so pretty and I think kids of all ages will love to make them. They can choose a phrase or their name to go on the canvases. The salt mixes with the watercolor paint in such a beautiful way, that they turn out great every time! It’s seriously impossible to mess up this art project. I think this is the perfect activity for a birthday or class party. And I’m pretty sure it won’t go straight in the trash when it comes home!
Rainbow Salt Paintings
Here’s what you will need:
- Canvases
- Vinyl Letter Stickers
- Salt
- Mod Podge
- Watercolor Paint
First, choose a phrase, saying or name and put it on the canvas with the vinyl letter stickers.
Next, brush over the entire canvas with Mod Podge, working quickly.
While the Mod Podge is still wet, pour salt over the entire canvas.
Allow the Mod Podge to fully dry. Then, apply watercolor paint to the salt.
Keep painting over the salt and letters until the entire canvas is covered.
Allow the paint to dry, then carefully peel of the stickers.
The painting will have such a fun texture when it’s finished!
These are so fun and the options are endless!
These rainbow salt paintings are SO beautiful and would be a great activity for a kids’ birthday party or a school class party!
