Hello! It’s Megan from Homemade Ginger again. Today I’m sharing a super easy craft that is perfect for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day!
We have embarked on allergy season around here. Three out of my four kids have pretty bad allergies and this week has just been miserable! I love that all of the trees and flowers are blooming, but it makes me sad to see my kids struggling so much with itchy eyes, runny noses and sneezing constantly.
We have been limiting our time outdoors until everything has finished blooming, but we still want to enjoy the beautiful season! I love these squish paintings because it’s something that both my 10 year old and my 2 year old can enjoy doing. They are so easy and best of all, you can do them inside and avoid the pollen! These butterflies turn out so pretty and would be a great handmade gift for kids to give Grandma on Mother’s Day!
These squish paintings are so easy for kids of any age to do. They turn out a little different every singe time which makes the process very exciting! You could turn them into a card for a great Mother’s Day or Father’s Day craft!
Butterfly Squish Paintings
Here is what you will need:
- White Paper
- Acrylic Paint
- Scissors
- Black Paper
- Googly Eyes
- Black Pipe Cleaners
- Black Pom Poms
First, you will begin by placing generous dots of glue onto half of a piece of paper. If you want to place the dots in a butterfly shape, that will make it easier to trim later!
Next, fold the piece of paper in half and rub it with the edge of a popsicle stick to squish the paint and spread it around.
While the paper is still folded, trim it into half of a butterfly shape.
Unfold the paper to reveal your butterfly creation!
Allow the paint to dry, then add a strip of black paper for the body.
Attach a pom pom, googly eyes and pipe cleaners for the head.
These are so fun and addicting to make!
These butterfly squish paintings are easy for kids of all ages to make. This is a great craft for spring or Mother’s Day!
