5 Ways to make unique birthday candles

There is nothing particularly wrong with using plain old wax number candles.  I’ve used them for years, and I’ve never had a problem with how they look.  But now that I’ve seen that there are other options, it’s sooooooo much more fun to actually decorate and personalize these candles, than to leave them generic, especially for kids!

Butterfly-candle

This idea comes from an Etsy shop, but you could easily decorate a regular birthday number candle as a butterfly.  Just paint it, add some wings, and it’ll be ready to go!

Customize the candle for whatever birthday party theme you’ve chosen by hand painting it.  You could do this for so many different themes!

Ladybug-candle

Remember in my first birthday party ideas post, there was a ladybug theme?  This would be super cute to add to a ladybug cake or cupcake!  This particular one from Etsy is made out of wood, but you could definitely dress up a regular wax number candle as a ladybug!

And finally, here’s the candle I made last night for Kate’s birthday party is this weekend.   This is a pretty simple idea, but it’s so cute!

I used a regular wax number 1 candle, some rhinestones and some self adhesive pearls:

I used the glue gun to attach the rhinestones and just peeled off the pearls and stuck them right to the candle:

And now I have a super cute, personalized 1st birthday candle for my little girl!

I originally got the idea for making this glam birthday candle from Banman Land.  She uses puffy glitter paint to attach the jewels, rather than a glue gun which probably would be way easier!
