I’ve mentioned before that I’m not much of a baker, but I find decorating cupcakes SO MUCH FUN! Maybe it’s because it reminds me of doing crafts, and I love doing crafts! I’m a mom and I’ve ooo’d and awe’d over my fair share of stick figure creations. But it’s not like anyone in my family is going to pick up my crafts and admire them… at least, not nearly as often as I’d like them to! (ha!)

With cupcakes, people are destined to admire them. People are going to look at them. They’re going pick them up. And as long as you didn’t completely mess them up, someone is going to comment on how cute they look before they get eaten! And who doesn’t like a good pat on the back now and then!? (Don’t we all like the idea of bringing the most popular treats to the Christmas party? Or is that just me?)

I think it also helps that you can get away with using a box of cake mix. Afterall, everyone will be looking at the cute cupcake designs, not paying attention to how they actually taste, right? Not that there’s anything wrong with boxed cake mix. I think it’s delicious and I personally use it all the time! Maybe when my kids are older I’ll go to the effort of making cupcakes from scratch, but until they appreciate the difference, I’m going with the convenience factor.
