3 Easy and Festive Easter Crafts for Kids

Don’t you love when it’s a time of year when kids crafts can have a theme?  Easter is right around the corner and Leah and I have been having lots of fun experimenting with some Easter craft ideas this week.  They aren’t perfect, but I still think they are pretty darn cute!  Here are our 3 Easy Easter Crafts for kids.

Alas, I didn’t come up with the first two craft ideas on my own, but the photos are of our actual craft projects.

  1. Credit for the paper plate baby chick goes to Simple as That.  I LOVE the way this craft turned out!  Although, we decided to use cut outs of Leah’s hands instead of feathers for the wings.

  2. Credit for the wooden spoon chick puppets goes to Activity Village.  They also have a bunny spoon puppet you should check out.

  3. We made up the pom pom chick all on our own.  We were on such a roll with baby chicks, we thought we’d continue the theme!

As usual, I stocked up at the trusty dollar store, so our Easter craft ideas were definitely budget friendly: Easter craft supplies

Other than the essentials (glue, construction paper, etc) the key materials here are the:

  • wooden spoons

  • yellow paint

  • yellow plates

  • googly eyes

  • pom poms

  • pipe cleaners

  • feathers (all I had was a… ummmm, glamorous… blue feather boa, also from the dollar store)

Painting the wooden spoons went over REALLY well with my 3 year old!DSCN5230

With an assortment of googly eyes and construction paper beaks this flock of baby chicks was hatched: Easter crafts for kids

Adding the feathers appears to have been over the top though.  They looked like spring chicks ready for a night on the town, so I ditched the feathers after the photo shoot.  Easter activities for children

I love this paper plate baby chick.  We traced Leah’s hands to use as wings instead of using the glamorous blue feathers and it turned out really well! Easter crafts for kids

And this little guy was just a quick one thrown in at the end.  I always have trouble thinking of things to do with pom poms, but I’m really happy with how this little guy turned out.  So simple with just two pom poms, googly eyes, pipe cleaner feet and beak, and a small feathery tail. These 3 easy Easter crafts for kids were maybe a little above the level of my pre-schooler, but she still loved making them with me.  It’s just that hers ended up slightly more covered in glue… and tape… and crayon… and feathers… than the ones in the photographs!
