Hi there! It’s Megan from Homemade Ginger and I’m sharing a super easy DIY coaster craft with you all today! You won’t believe how easy these are to whip up and they look so pretty!
I love the dollar store. I know I’ve said it before but my love for the dollar store never gets old. I’ve done so many projects with things from the Dollar Tree like my DIY night light that I still love. So, when I’m browsing the aisles and find a new product, I tend to go crazy with ideas! When I came across these bags of smooth stones, I was so excited. Bags of stones sell for 5 times the price at the craft store, so finding some for just $1 made my day.
There are so many projects that you can do with these little stones. Keep them as-is and put them in a succulent planter or even spray paint them gold and use them in a more glamorous way. I decided to make some coasters because it seemed so easy and let’s face it; I’m always losing coasters. I love how they turned out and I was able to make them in no time!
I’ve seen stone trivets on Pinterest, like this one but I decided to see if I could turn that concept into some coasters.
Stone Coasters
The full instructions are at the bottom of this post, but here is what you will need:
- Smooth Stones
- Felt
- Hot Glue
- Scissors
Begin by cutting your felt into squares. I traced around a coaster that I already had so that I had the size that I wanted.
Find the flattest stones that you can and begin hot glueing them onto your felt. Super glue would also work if you find that some of your stones keep popping off.
Keep layering them on until your square felt is full. It’s kind of like doing a puzzle!
And you are finished! Make a set and give them away or use them for a party!

Try using this same method to make a table runner or trivet as well! You could also mix it up and use glass beads for a more chic look.
