Mason Jar Easter Gifts

Have you noticed lately how the stores are just FILLED with inexpensive Easter candy? Like seriously. How much candy does a kid need at Easter? Do you think we go overboard these days? I find it hard not to go overboard when there are so many choices – especially with all the really inexpensive and cute things from the dollar store.

So this is me toning things back. *breathe* I’m already having trouble leaving it at just this. There’s this guilty feeling in the back of my mind, like somehow my kids are going to be ripped off if this is all they get. But that is just not the case. Breathe in. Breath out. And repeat after me. “My kids don’t need 3 pounds of Easter chocolate.” Own it. There. Does that feel better?

Now seriously, the Easter bunny is going to leave these adorable mason jar Easter gifts at our house for the kids this year and NO OTHER CANDY. The Easter bunny might also leave a pair of pajamas because all three of my crazy little growers have outgrown the ones they got at Christmas. But I’m thinking that really might be it? (I’m trying to fight the urge to go to the dollar store as we speak… Easter is still a few weeks away and I’m not sure I’m going to make it… why am I such a consumer!?!?)

These mason jar Easter gifts are SO EASY and they're so cute! This is such a fun and simple Easter gift idea for your kids, grandkids, friends and coworkers and such an adorable way to give a chocolate bunny!

These mason jar Easter gifts are sooooooo cute. And I love that it’s not overkill for candy. You can give them to your own kids, or they’d also make adorable gifts for grandkids, teachers and even coworkers and friends. They are so simple to throw together and mason jars seem to make simple things look fancy. And when they’re empty, save the mason jar for the next fun project!

I was inspired by the mason jars in this pin here. I can’t find the original source for the picture, but they are simply adorable! Crafty Morning also made similar ones that you can check out. Such an adorable and simple idea and a GREAT way to limit the candy kids are getting!

Here’s what you’ll need:

I tried to find a similar chocolate bunny for you on Amazon, but I didn’t see anything. I bought these little guys at Walmart. And I found the foil wrapped chocolate carrots at the dollar store.

Take a handful of green shredded paper and roll it into a ball before you put it into the jar. Make sure your paper is compressed more than what I show in the picture, otherwise it will be harder to make it look nice. If the paper looks too tight, use your fingers, or small kitchen tongs to spread it out a bit.

Unwrap the chocolate bunny and place it into the jar.

Add a foil wrapped chocolate carrot, and then sprinkle Mini Eggs around it on all sides until you’re happy with how it looks.

Trace the lid of the mason jar on pretty card stock and cut out the circle.

Place the circle on top of the metal lid, then twist on the metal screw band over top.

Cut out a length of yellow ribbon and tie it in a bow. I found it helpful to add a small dot of hot glue behind the bow to keep it hanging straight and also to keep it from falling off the lid.

I made one for each of my three little munchkins!

These jars are hiding safely in a drawer in my office right now. The Easter Bunny will pull them out when it’s time. 🙂
