37 Awesome DIY Summer Projects

Barbecues on warm summer evenings. Picnics in the park. Hot afternoons, lazing around at the beach. Flip flops! I love it all! And wouldn’t you know, there are tons of DIY summer projects you can make for every adventure! I have waited a long time for summer to come this year, and now that the weather is finally starting to warm up, I’m just drooling over all the fun projects I want to try!

When I was a kid, I loved to sew, and I remember one summer I made myself a pair of shorts. I think they had pigs on them? And they were kind of ugly now that I think about it? But I made them and I was so proud! You know, back in the days when you were a kid and it didn’t matter what you were wearing. And if it was super hot, you didn’t even notice. You were just happy to be playing outside. Ah, those were good times!

Last year we did some amazing crafts when the kids were home for the summer. Most of them were kid related, because let’s face it, with 3 kids home for two months, we needed some distractions. But it was so much fun and I can’t wait to try some new things again this year!

One of my favourite things about summer is eating outside – whether it’s on patios at restaurants, or going on picnics, or just having a barbecue in the backyard – there is something so relaxing about feeling a slight breeze and relaxing on a lawn chair. And wouldn’t you know, there are lots of summer project ideas to go along with eating outside!
