Hello there! It’s Megan from Homemade Ginger and I can’t wait to share another adorable ornament craft with you today!
I don’t go overboard with seasonal decor, but I absolutely love changing out my front door wreath for every season. Although I save my wreaths and put them into storage, it’s always tempting to go out and buy a new one or even better – make a new one each time the season or holiday changes! It’s just so welcoming to have a beautiful wreath on the front door. It’s the first thing that guests see when they come over and I love making my front door a little more inviting.
Christmas wreaths are my favorite and I thought that a front door ornament with a tiny little wreath would just be one of the cutest kids craft ideas for the holidays. These popsicle stick doors are so easy to make and they add a little bit of welcoming charm to your Christmas tree or attached to a gift. You can make your popsicle stick door look exactly like your front door in real life, or mix it up and choose a fun color combination for Christmas! You will love making these little popsicle stick doors for your tree!
These ornaments would be so easy to personalize for gifts. You can write the year on the back and put a last name or monogram letter on the front with stickers or small wooden charms. Not only are they super easy to make, but you probably already have all of the materials on hand in your craft stash!
Popsicle Stick Door Ornaments
Here is what you will need to make your ornaments:
- Popsicle Sticks
- Pipe Cleaners
- Small Bows or Ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun
- Craft Paint
- Twine
- Small Buttons
I found some small gold bows at the craft store, but you could also use narrow ribbon and tie the bows yourself.
Begin by lining 5 popsicle sticks up.
Next, take 2 popsicle sticks and cut them to fit across the 5 that are lined up. Hot glue them in place, at the top and bottom of the door. (If your door needs a little more stability, you can add another horizontal piece of popsicle stick to the back.)
Paint your popsicle sticks using a few coats of craft paint and allow it to dry completely.
Form a 2-3 inch pipe cleaner into a circle for the wreath. Attach a bow to the top.
Using hot glue, attach the wreath to the front of the door.
Add a small button for the doorknob.
Glue a loop of twine on the back of the door for the ornament hanger.
Have fun choosing different wreath and paint color combinations!
These little doors couldn’t be cuter!
These popsicle stick door ornaments are SO cute and such an easy kids ornament craft to make!
