Hello again! It’s Megan from Homemade Ginger and I’m back once again to share a craft that is perfect for back to school!
It seems like people either love or hate school supply shopping. I don’t mind it – in fact, I make it a game to try and spend the least amount of money possible. Since I now have 3 kids in school, those supplies really add up. I usually start hunting down school supplies at the beginning of July whenever there is a crazy sale and I end up getting supplies from many different stores over the course of the summer. I was pretty proud of the stash of supplies that I had accumulated this year and then last week, we got an email from our principal with the school supply list. I was horrified to find out that I had been using the wrong list to buy all of our supplies! I have definitely learned my lesson to double check which list I’m using!
Whether you love getting school supplies or not, the start of school is quickly approaching or maybe it has already arrived! I know that my kids read a ton for homework during the school year and I thought it would be fun to make a DIY bookmark to keep them excited about reading. We made monster bookmarks last year that were a huge hit, and I think you will love these paper ones just as much!
Paper Monster Bookmarks
Here is what you will need:
- Construction Paper
- White Paper
- Googly Eyes
- Glue Stick
- Scissors
First, cut your paper into a strip, about 2 inches by 6 inches. Cut a square that measures about 2X2.
Now take a white square that is the same size as the colored square. Cut along the bottom in a zig zag to form teeth.
Glue the white paper on top of the colored paper so that the teeth hang off the edge.
Attach the square with teeth to the top of the strip of paper.
Next, attach eyes to the front of the bookmark. You can also add hair, ears or horns.
Add another zig zag strip of white paper below the first one to create a second set of teeth.
You can make a bunch that all have different silly personalities!
This would be a fun thing for kids to pass out to their classmates at the beginning of school! These paper monster bookmarks are so easy to make and make a great back to school craft for kids! Hook the monsters into a book for a silly bookmark!
