How to make Pipe Cleaner Angel Ornaments:

The full printable instructions are at the end of this post. Here’s a list of affiliate links to products on Amazon that are similar to the supplies we used:

Can you believe that all you need to make this adorable angel is 2 pipe cleaners!? That’s it! And then of course some string so you can hang it on the Christmas tree. You know I LOVE crafts that barely use any supplies!

We’ll be using full length 12 inch sparkly pipe cleaners. (Regular fuzzy chenille pipe cleaners will also work, so feel free to use those if that’s what you’ve got!)

Take 1 of the pipe cleaners and bend it into a circle shape.

Cross the two ends of the pipe cleaner to make a small X. Then twist the ends to hold it in shape.

You will (hopefully) have made a circle shape.

To make the halo, pull the pipe cleaner around one of your fingers.

Then twist twice to hold it together. You should have a small circle the size of your finger.

Place your finger through the pipe cleaner right next to the small circle. Again, twist the pipe cleaner around your finger twice. Pull your finger out and bend the pipe cleaners so you have two small circles at one end. The first circle is the angel’s halo and the second circle is the angel’s head.

Bend the top circle forward to a 90 degree angle so it sits over top of the second circle – the head – like a halo.

There should be a large oval-like shape below the head and halo. Bend this oval into a long triangle shape. The triangle should have two long sides and a short bottom so it looks like the angel’s dress.

This is what your angel should look like so far! One circle on top bent forward as the halo, one circle below the halo for the head and a long triangle shape as the body.

How to Make the Angel’s Wings:

But what’s an angel without wings? Take that second pipe cleaner and again, cross the two ends and twist them in place to make a circle shape.

Bring the opposite ends of the circle shape together until they meet in the middle, like in the photo below. Don’t twist them yet.

Slip that squished circle over the angel and center it just under the angel’s head. Twist the pipe cleaners twice, as close to the angel’s “neck” as you can on both sides of the angel.

Easy Angel Pipe Cleaner Ornaments

Open up the pipe cleaner wings on both sides of the angel and bend them into wing shapes. I made the wings look like little sideways hearts.

Your angel is complete! Now all you have to do is add some string so you can hang it on the Christmas tree! Ribbon or twine or whatever you have around the house will also work!

I found this string at the dollar store in the craft section.

Can you believe you can make this sparkly angel in less than 5 minutes with only two pipe cleaners?! So pretty!

Easy Angel Pipe Cleaner Ornaments

I made my angel using sparkly silver pipe cleaners, but you can make yours whatever colours you like!

You can use sparkly pipe cleaners, or the regular fuzzy ones. You can make it all the same colour or your angel could have different coloured wings. It’s always fun to see what colour combinations the kids choose!

  • Cross the two ends of one of the pipe cleaners to make a small X. Then twist those ends together. You should have a large circle shape.

  • To make the wings, grab the second pipe cleaner and cross the two ends and twist them in place to make another large circle shape. Bring the opposite sides of the circle shape together until they meet in the middle. It should resemble a "squished" circle.
  • Slip the "squished" circle over the angel. Center it just under the angel's head where the "neck" would be. Twist the pipe cleaners twice, as close to the angel's "neck" as you can on both sides of the angel.
  • Open up the pipe cleaner wings on both sides of the angel and bend them into wing shapes. They should look like sideways hearts.
  • Add some string so you can hang it on the Christmas tree!
